Need to find Speedometer Cable..?

My speedometer cable broke and I cant find one to replace it. I have a 1987 with the BA 10/5 transmission and the NP207 transfer case. I need the speedometer cable that is metal and screws on to the transfer case, but then on the back of the speedometer I need the one end that is plastic and just pushes on the back and a small clip on the plastic part locks it in place. I cant find that one. All the stores here have the one listed that has the metal screw on ends on both ends. I looked at about 8 different years and models and none would fit. I looked at Napa, autozone, oreileys. Where can I find one or is there a different vehicle I can get it from? Thank you for the help.

Will

Sure the double metal ended one won't work?

I mean, I'm sure it wouldn't be the only one available if there were other ones.

all the ones that they had were the ones with the metal ends on both ends and I should of specified but they are the metal ends that all screw on(threaded). The one on mine is the one that has the threaded metal end on the transfer case and the clip on plastic end on the speedometer. Sorry I did not specify in the first post. Thanks,

Will

Here is one on e-bay that may work. This guy has a couple of them listed. The one on the left looks like it would work if the length is correct.
AMC AMERICAN MOTORS JEEP DODGE MOPAR SPEEDOMETER CABLE:eBay Motors (item 360222894370 end time Feb-01-10 17:52:58 PST)
If this one isn't correct, I would still contact him and let him know what you need.

If its the internal (moving) part of the cable that broke it can be replaced, auto zone or maybe advance had a universal kit in the "help" section that gives you a legth of a cable you cut to length and crimp on ends. They actually work quite well and are cheaper then a whole new assembly.

Had to special order it. I found a company after searching for a week online and making phone calls that sells it. RockAuto had it. 4WD and Quadratec doesnt carry it. It is not a common one. It has the nut connector and the plastic connector and it is 96"long. So hopefully it will be here this week and I can check it. Thank you for the help.

Welcome to the forum. You have just revived a 4 year old post. I would guess the OP has solved his issue by now
