my headlights keep turning off and going back on

so my head lights keep turning off randomly and go back on like 5 seconds later. it happened to me like 7 times last night within 10 minutes. I am thinking its wiring but what do you guys think? Also what should i check and where is it. Any help is appreciated.

I'd try the switch first. I just had all of my panel lights go out and it was/is the switch.

Trace out the ground as well, IIRC, it is on the driver's side inner fender, towards the front. I will check/verify in my FSM tonite, but there are about 3 wires grounded here.

Gonna agree with all the switch people The part is relatively inexpensive and only takes about 5 minutes to replace. On a side note you should probably replace it asap it really is no fun when you are on some back country road at 10:00 at night 60miles from your house and it finally decides it is done for good. Don't ask me how I know.

ok thanks everyone for the advice. by the way when it was happening, it was raining heavily and my windshield was all foggy. It was pretty scary. I will get the switch switched right away.

I had it happen on an S10 I had, also was the switch. I believe Jeep used a very similar switch in the YJ.

The headlights switch.... If it burned out the breaker, you need to find out why. Usually it is from overpowered lights. The stock switch can only take stock lights, no more. If you add a relay to the lights so they get fused battery power direct and the switch only has to trigger the relay, you can power up as big or as many lights as you want.
