Thanks.

I was thinking about it. While its ripped apart everything is so easy to get to. Im hoping to get my lift kit soon, with everything off, it seems like it would be a cake walk.

I was thinking today though, after seeing a hot rod with a flat black paint job. The flat black with hugger orange might look good together.
Not sure though. I am torn now, high gloss black and orange or flat black and orange?

I know, my spelling is horrible.

Well I gave the rollcage another 2 coats of color today. After it had some time to dry I went to take a look at it, there were two problem areas. Small, about 6in long and 2in wide. Took some 220sand paper and lightly rubbed the areas down. I didnt go all the way to primer or bare metal, I just went down to even it all out and get the blemishs out.

Wiped it all down with a clean cotton cloth. Sprayed a very light but even coat on and let it dry. About 20-30 minutes later while it was still tacky I sprayed another coat, light still but a little heavier than the first. I then waited about 2 hours after letting it dry fairly well, then reshot the color, just as heavy as the 2nd coat.

Ill let it sit for 2-3 days then after making sure any and all problems are gone, Ill start to clear coat it. I figure 3-5 coats and she'll be good as new. After that Ill let it bake under the sun for an afternoon.

Also painted the back seat brackets, and the headlight bezels. They are looking good. I am also thinking about blacking out my lights. I found a kit in Qudratech. I think a blacked out Jeep would look good with the lights blacked out too. I just need to figure out if I can black out the extra lights Im going to be hooking up.
Tomorrow Ill be working ore on cleaning up the frame and rust. Maybe start drawing up some rockguard/sliders.

Well its been fast and slow around here the last few days. I got my new to me tailgate. Already sanded and primed.

The other day found my windshield had broken where I was storing it. Still intact but lots of cracks. Im going to look around for one at the local junk yard, but Ill drop the $99 for a new one from Quadratech.

May have found a used steering gearbox with pitman arm. Great price too. Ill still rebuild mine, and just have a backup incase anything happens to mine.

Got the outside of the hood sanded to bare metal. The inside was started but then stopped about 3/4 of the way through. Ill finish it tomorrow.

Also got the outside of the grill sanded. Most of the inside aswell. Discovered some rust rot on the bottom of the grill. 2 small holes about 1in in size. Easy fix after I cut it out. Some fiberglass and body filler. When I start that I will get detailed pics.

Anyway, Ill update in a few days with some pics and a progress report.

Thanks for the nice words.

Today I finished the inside of the hood. All sanded and ready for primer.

Also started thinking of a way to tube the front fenders. Im going to use the old inner fenders and scrape the outter. Hopefully this will come out nice and look good

Nice work man. Keep after that darn rust. I used to live in OH and forgot about all the rusty vehicles. I have a 40 plus yr old scout so I have dealt with the rust before. I usually cut out as much as I can and rust convert the rest. I think I would go for some serious body modification(boat side it) since your going to have to cut so much out any way. Here is some orange and black for some inspriration. I was going to go with Kubota orange and ended up making a custom modified hugger orange mix. My paint job didn't turn out as good as I wanted but I will end up scratching the piss out of it and re shooting it this summer.

stevenmh I was thinking about buying the 3.5" SuperLift. After looking somemore I think I might run a RC 4" lift. I wanted to try to go as high as I can without the sye and such. If I have vibs Ill fix it, but figure might as well try them out. Plus I hear their customer service is great.

yjcrawlr I have heard the term "boat sid it" before, but not sure on what it means?

Also the pic you posted came up as a red x. Yea, Ohio is a nightmare on cars and rust. I live right in the middle of the snow belt. Fun...

Fixed the photo. boatside is just a design for a rocker protection that tapers towards the frame at the bottom. I did mine square and looking back I would have boatsided them. A guy on here named e-rock has some nice ones he made. I was thinking of ways to cover up some rust and add some body protection.

Ok, I saw your rig posted before. I love it. The fenders, the color, and the front bumper is bad.

Are those just stock fenders cut?

I see what the term "boat sid it" means. Great idea. I already have to repair the rocker so I might as well do it now ripped apart. Thanks for the great tip there.

yes. stock fender cut with 1/2 in solid rod used to clean up the sharp edge. I had to do alot of cutting to clean up the POs drunken sawsall job. Bumper is home made as well along with all the body armor. The rock sliders cost me $70 in materials. Here is a side view.
