I just order some windshield light bracket for my TJ. What brand lights & model did you use on your brackets?

If I remember correctly they are 150watt KC daylighters. They do not have really long range but are super bright. Great for trails where you want to see right in front of you. I plan on adding some fogs or long range driving lights later to my bumper.

Pics of the 8.8 I picked up, looks to be in really good shape.. It is 3.73 gears so that is my plan to go with. I will be regearing the D-30 with new bearings, carrier etc to match this one..

Here are some pics with the sliders finished up... I think I am going to like them but it takes a little bit to get used to them when you step out of the jeep, they sit much higher than my old nerf bars..

Those sliders look good. Where they hard to install? Thanks for the info about the lights. I will talk to some of the vendors on the Arkansas Crawlers forum about a set.

Looks good! They'll give much better ground clearance than your old nerf bars.

Thanks, no they were actually easier to install than expected.. I did have to go buy some additional hardware, the longest bolts that came with them was 2.5" and I needed 3" to reach through the two rear bottom holes.. I also upgraded the hardware to 3/8 bolts. I think the ones they sent were metric something but they were a little smaller. I still need to beef up my washers on the inside of the tub but I think I am going to cut some 3/16 or 1/4 plate and use on the inside to stiffen up the tub walls a little.

I didn't have to do it... I bought a 4.10 8.8 and a 4.10 D30 out of a 4cly YJ.

Chad I am going to start stripping the 8.8 down to clean and paint.. Noticed in your thread that you had to pull the axles to change your emergency brake pads.. Can you tell me why that is?? Just looking it doesn't appear that you would need to do that.. I remember reading where they said it is dangerous to pull them without pulling axle but I guess I just don't see the danger area. A couple small springs and some clips and they should come off around the end of the axle.

Just curious, I really don't think I need to take them off, they are in good shape but in case I break one like you did I would like to know.. More curious than anything.

I may hit you with a few more questions as I move along in this.. I think I am going to have the d30 professionally geared, I don't want to put gears in and blow it up in a few weeks, it all seems a little to sensitive and not enough room for error in setting gears up. Still reading and studying on it though, I may get up the nerve..

Well for the last two days my wife and daughter have been on the road in my daughters 04 TJ, about 3 hrs each way for a small trip while she is out on Christmas break.. They came home today and my wife and I went out to eat in the YJ. On the way to the restaurant I asked how daughters jeep drove and rode and she said really good.. Then a few minutes later she said, actually I would a lot rather ride in the YJ (4" Rough Country Lift) than in the TJ.. She said "this YJ sure rides a lot better".. I told her "because it is better" ..

I told the same story on the TJ forum, but told them No Offense!!

You should put a spartan lunchbox locker in your d30 when you regear it. Talk to Discount Winchline about one. His name is billy and he is the VP of the arkansas crawlers. His user name on jeepforum is scuba jeepster.

I have been looking at some sliders like that, don't really need them other than the fact I like the way they look. This is probably a dumb question, but are they load supporting as a step? Or are they just for protection?
