yay! i haven't seen your jeep in a long time! some day everybody will have their jeeps done and we can all have a massive wheel fest to go test and break them.

Ok, I realize that these are old posts but I am hoping that your rides held up after the swap and all is well. I recently bought a 95 yj. I4,AX5,D30 front,D35 rear, sporting 33x12.50/15's. Almost as stock as you can get. I have a 1981 Chevy with a 4 barrel. I have got to dump this I4 or I'm gonna lose my mind. (20 MPH up hills...) I could use all the thoughts, problems you encountered, parts lists and maybe even some pics of your swaps. This is my daily driver and I need to get my ducks in a row (so to speak) before I get started. I am mechanically inclined but there are a lot of problems that are easily avoidable with a little input. Any help you all could give would be great.

if i were you, here's what i would do.... swap in a rear ford 8.8 (google 8.8 in a YJ..... tons of info) then gear that and the front dana 30 to 4.56 or even 4.88 and drive the hell outta it.... lots cheaper and easier than a motor swap. as far as mine holding up.... it did good. never drove it a lot, then sold it....

go buy a set of 4cy 5spd set of axles. they came with 4.10s and you can change them over in about an afternoon... Much cheaper than regearing or motor swaps.

1993 Silver YJ. SBC 300hp. 700r4. NP231 hybrid. 35" Mud Terrains. 7" Toyota Basterd packs. 8.8 Welded. D30 loc-rite. 1" body lift. 4" LED tails. Custom bumpers. Warn M8000. Hella's. (Trail rig)

reading is your friend.... he has a 4 cyl. 5 speed..... as well as 4.10 axles....

i still stand by my statement that an 8.8 swap and regearing would be way easier and cheaper than a motor swap.
