I got my factory cowl seal from Dont Fear the Jeeper. I think it was around $100 but well worth the money. I replaced my cowl seal first with a Rugged Ridge for $30 but it simply was not thick enough. Dont Fear the Jeeper has some great stuff on there that are not full dealer price, even tho they are factory parts!

I think it cost $25.00 from Quadratech, part #12501.11. It goes all the way outside the hinges and intial fit is real tight, works great double check the part #, good luck.

I just got my Flywheel back today $25 to have it turned. I also need a .0025 Shim to go between Flywheel and Block. I'm glad Sam at the machine shop metioned this because I wouldn't have known to do it. Makes perfect sense though.

I called around to find this 25thousand shim to put behind the Flywheel and no parts store has them so I called the Jeep dealer. The man in parts told me I don't need to worry about it. Is this right? I'm an electrician not a mechanic. I can't see what difference it would make personaly, but know I have two different people saying to different things. Anyone have any input?

Clutch came in today. It has a spline grease packet in the box. Is this for the Pilot bearing? The alinement tool? Do I just pack the Pilot bearing with regular grease like any other bearing? Instructions are vague.

Thats is the next thing. I want to be able to carry a 33 spare with out screwing up my tail gate. How did you do the locking mechanism?

I got it locally from a 4X4 Shop. He had it in stock. I not real pleased with it. I will probably put the old one back on till I find a different one.

man, your build is going great and right along the lines of what I think a perfect YJ is. The spline grease is to be lightly applied to the splines on the input shaft of the transmission. The pilot bearing uses regular axle bearing grease, but don't pack a ton of it in there as it will fling out and get on the clutch. Also, MAKE SURE YOU PUT THE CLUTCH PLATE ON IN THE CORRECT DIRECTION, the rubber cushions face the transmission, not the engine. Just a reminder since ALOT of people put it in backwards.

There's a lot of different ways to tackle it. Some just use a pin into a hole, like a door. Others use a latch. Really, just look at some that you can buy commercially and find a locking mechanism that works for you, then copy that sucker!

For my Glock 26 I prefer the appendix carry, not small of the back as in the photo of you on your garage floor. Rolling over might be uncomfortable.

Thanks, I'm have always wanted a YJ and this is the 1st time I have been able to get one and not own on it. I saved my money and did alot of side work this past summer to get it done. Looked for 3 months at every Jeep that was for sale, saw this one and knew it was the one. This tranny was something I knew would come up I was just hoping later on down the line. On the grease input. Thats what I figured but I've learned its better to ask than do it wrong.
