I'd go with a simple cat back. On smaller engines like the 2.5 L power is lost in the low end RPMs with free flow exhaust systems like straight pipes, or when the catalytic converter is removed. And if you have a way of having the cat back welded on, that is always best.

I have an old thrush cat back right now, but I cracked it open on a rock and am planning the flowmaster 40 cat back. I have a buddy with a magnaflow muffler on his 2.5 L, and it sounds great.

i tested a flowmaster, it was louder, then the magnaflow, i went with a non chambered stainless, excellent sounding muffler, went with the magnaflow, no regrets here. been using it for a good 2 years now, very happy with it.

For the love of God, how many muffler threads do we need?

If you would have searched, you would have seen the couple dozen there are already......

The best would be borla or banks cat back, but pricey. A good system at a decent price would be gibson. They offer a nice low rumble without reducing your lowend torque on a 2.5 like a 40 series flowmaster can.
