Motor shifted in wreck, new motor mount not lining up

So i wrecked the jeep, broke the passenger side motor mount, when the engine shifted towards the front a bit. Got the drivers side mount in and now i cant get the passenger side to line up, the engine is shifted forward about 2 inches so the mount wont line up. Any tips, i am working by myself with limited tools.

try a comealong, winch or portapower to pull or push it back into place.

ouch man, sounds like your frame is cranked... I'd try loosening the driverside and pivoting it - maybe get it closer

check the top of your frame behind the shock mounts, there are 3 small drilled holes in either side of the top of each frame rail - are they squished?

How would you suggest doing that, just wondering, i dont have a winch, just a couple small rachet straps.

Frame looks fine, those wholes you are talking about are not squished, all look the same on both sides. What it looks like is when i hit the 18 wheeler the passenger side motor mount gave and the engine shifted forward, thats why the fan blade hit the radiator.

awesome, that's good news!

another point to loosen would be the tranny mount on the belly plate - with no ratchet straps or come-along,etc, you'll want to have everything loose so you can move it by hand - maybe disconnect the driveshafts too

I love how casually you talk about a Jeep Vs. 18 WHEELER situation. Glad you came out alright! Could have been much worse!

Jeep vs. Semi Truck is a one sided fight to say the least.

I did loosen the two middle bolts, but not the third thats closer to the drivers side. How could i move it by rachet strap?

Haha yea, and the warn bumper and bull bar really took the brunt of the damage and if i wasnt lifted it would have been really bad.

You can get a cheap come-a-long for about 15 bucks at walmart, tractor supply, harbor freight, etc. Will be worth a few bucks ofer fighting a stretchy ratchet strap.

Wrap a chain, rope, etc around the transfer vase and pull toward the rear spring mount on drivers side. Tranny mount MUST be loose (floppy loose) for this to work

For the tranny mount, is that all 3 bolts?

I will try that in the morning

You want to ge able to wiggle the rear of the transfer case. The mount bolts go through slotted holes. You will be able to push up on the output shaft housing and move it slightly side to side if loose enough.

thanks for the tips, will definitely try this in the morning, should the rear drive shaft be removed?

You should not be moving it that far. If the DS is holding the transfer case off and keeping it from moving less than an inch (should be plenty to swing the engine back into place), something else is pranged.
