You have a bad ecu. Check for power at pins 3&9. If you have power there then replace it.

Have you ruled out the ignition module, coil or the distributor?

I just read your whole thread. Your problem sounds like one I had a while back. Driving along and motor would skip a beat for no reason. For the life of me I could not figure it out until it died going down a road.

The CPS was the problem. The book said disconnect the CPS plug, wait a minute, plug it back in. If your YJ starts you know that it was the CPS, go buy a new one.

Good luck,
Martin

CPS was swapped, no results. ALL sensors changed. It was starting on three cylinders, changed the injector, now no start. Will fill out profile.

TO ALL: Someone take a picture of this so-called fuel rail ground. I don't have a single loose wire anywhere, but want to check the location. Thanks.

UPDATE: Slack in the timing chain and dist. play is good. Set engine to TDC and checked to make sure the rotor on the dist. was at 3 o'clock and it was. Still no start, just cranks and cranks and cranks. Running out of things to replace and money to do so

Could my code 41 "alternator field open or shorted" be causing my original rough idle and now no start condition?

I'm dealing with my dad going into surgery in a few. Haven't had time to follow up. I'm thinking the pickup or distributor. Check voltages at all your sensors. I wish someone was close by you could swap out sensor with to Troubleshoot.

Sounds like the problem I had when I first got my jeep . It would lose power untill one day it just died on me
could not get it to run for the life of me unless I dumped some gas down the carb . Turned out the top of my gas tank was rotting and bits of the rust clogged my lines and blocked my in carb fuel filter , 350 bucks later and I replaced the gas tank and the filter and she fires up fine

i am injected and have 31 psi at the rail. I also visually saw each injector squirt fuel so I do not think there is a problem there. Replacing the pump and other fuel components will be a last resort as i have a full tank.

Update: Looks like I will be able to replace the dist/pickup via help from Max. I'll keep you guys updated. Thanks for hanging in there with me guys.

The pickup sent was the wrong one so I'll just replace the whole dist and pickup next month.
Update after replacement.
