minus 10 degrees
Wierd thing happening to my heated seats in my DD. For some reason when the temp gets below 0 my heated seats won't go on. I flip the toggle switch on (has an indicator light) but doesnt light up and I know its not working because the seats dont heat up... any suggestions on this...

I don't have them, but there must be a fuse for it somewhere.

If the switch has silicone grease in it, the grease may be thick enough to keep the contacts apart. The pushbuttons on my radio do the same thing until it warms-up a bit.

It's got to be an electrical connection somewhere. Go at it with a test light and see if you're getting power going into the seats. If you arn't start traving wires, if you are call bestop. |

without looking at the wiring diagrams, it sounds like it could be a relay too. of course i don't know if there are relays in the circuit, but if there are, that explains why the light comes one, but no heat in the seat. only half the realy is good still. Or it could be like the problem with my rear window defogger: relay is good, so the light comes on, but there is a broken wire at the window, so there is no circuit back there.
of course, if there are no relays, then i'm wrong.

Better than Bestop. Picked up a heated seat pad/back on ebay for $20. Works great. Plugs into the cig lighter. Ok...now back to the topic. |

Not to question anyone's choice, but isn't heated seats kind of un-jeep?(For that matter I don't believe in AC either--didn't even have it in my house till my new wife came along but she doesn't mind my Jeep so she's ok)

tonight i started my DD up (temp around 17 degrees not including windchill factor) and it did the same thing. When I warmed her up the heated seats then worked. I installed the pads myself taking the vinyl covers off, cutting out some of the foam (outlining the pad) put the covers back on and ran the wires on the floorboard. The switches were placed on the dashboard by cutting out circular holes and placing them in. One of the best mod's I've ever done. Not just for the winter but on those cool nights and your top is still down in the fall. I purchased them on e-bay if anyone wants to know.
