Mean Green Sewing Machine (build)
I figured I'd start a build thread mostly out of boredom. So here's a beginning poser shot or two.
That is the week I bought it. It's a 94 YJ with factory air, hardtop and 2.5L. The PO put American Racing Baja 15" wheels with 28" Michelin tires. No rear bumper. No tire cover over the Polyspare. Wrecked hood and fender. Blown dash speakers. No turn signal bulbs. More to come.

Update
I started off doing some little things. Fixing the dash speakers and joining Jeep Forum were first. Then I replaced some blown bulbs, did the 15-20 gal tank conversion, modified my airbox, and changed the shifter knob. I traded Matt Graham, my neighbor with the wicked blue Jeep, a TJ Bestop Duster deck cover for an alloy spare wheel and tire, a TJ third brake light, and a TJ Stock rear bumper.

Then I went and did something stupid... First, I wheeled alone. Second, I jumped off on a hunting trail behind the Grandparents' place. Apparently, murky water hides deep ruts really well, and street tires don't like mud. Well, after some strategic wheeling and utilization of 4lo, I got out of the problem by myself. Scary, and I'll never do it again.

We had a lovely snow, which is fairly rare in West Georgia. I had to work that evening, and had nothing to do all day, so I got dressed and went out recovering people. I helped quite a few people get on and off of the roads. I was proud of myself.

Didn't cover it in the last box, but you can see I changed my tops out. MUCH better in warm weather. I also sold my nerf bars on CL. I'll be building rockers along with my bumpers, and don't need bars at stock ride height. I'm planning on a 2.5 or 4 inch lift and 31" tires.
I took these after trimming my rear fender flares. More to come when I can get to it. Check out my wishlist blog!

lol, that exact same thing happened to me when I had my Michelins. Except I had to use a floor jack and a shovel to get myself out the frozen mud. The come-along proved useless.
Lets just say I wont be doing any mudding until I get a locker and a lift.

Not a bad start. I wont even post pics of mine anymore till Im done ridding it of chrome. Not feeling the chrome. Your springs are almost as flat as mine.....well...mine are hyperextended now, lol. You gonna lift it? That rear bumper looks much better than without I think.

Yeah, I'm not big chrome fan. I wouldn't keep the wheels shiny if they weren't so expensive. The PO put those massive shackles on the front, so that's a lot of the problem. I'm gonna go with a 2.5 RC lift or a buddy's 4" RC when he goes SOA. I can't wait to mount the 31's I have.

The other day I replaced my bashed hood. Didn't get to the fender, or wiring the massive KC's the guy had on the hood. Got the hood, fender, and front and rear greasable Boom shackles for $150. I'm not sure how I like them there, they wobble on the flimsy steel. I might move them and fix the hood before I paint it.

Yeah, those shackles are pretty big!!! Looks like a great start. Are you really going to do a 4" with 31s? No knocking you, I just think they will look really small.

giggityjeeper, you don't understand. People in the South hear the word snow and start to freak out. Schools get delayed and canceled before the snow even comes. Plus it usually rains before it snows, so we usually get a nice layer of slick ice on the road.
