My master cyl on the YJ is leaking so I figured if I was going to replace it why not upgrade. For example if going tons the upgrade is a 1 ton mc. It's got a factory 30 and 8.8 disc brake rear, 35s and a FI 302.
Anyway does a TJ MC fit on a YJ? Anyone done the swap? The reason I ask is I have one off of my TJ that isn't being used since I'm swapping a dodge MC

I am looking for the same when I put an 8.8 in. I have read a 95 booster and MC and a MC from Ford E350.
Have to pay attention to which side the lines hook up to MC.
In my case attachment to peddle addy may need some rework also.
Most of the brake upgrades are well documented in the 8.8 install threads.
I am leaning toward the 95 setup and buried in that thread was a proportion inch valve from IIRC an XJ.
So I am still researching just picked up an 8.8 yesterday needs a regear. Install and the the brakes.
I have a 4" lift on 33s SUA and since the mods the brakes are acceptable but could be so much better.

The reason I ask is because my YJ is ba and I have a factory TJ one on the shelf at home not brig used.

If it fits give it a try and see what you get.

If your 95 YJ had a 4.0L in it then it already had the better MC (dual diaphragm) over previous years, not sure a TJ MC will buy you much. An upgrade would benefit if you had bigger calipers over stock and a properly sized MC. Since you already have a TJ one, not sure if it will work, but would be worth a shot and then you can tell us :)..

It was a 4cyl originally. 2 chamber metal reservoir as opposed to plastic on the TJ. I figure I will give it a try.

Get one off of a mid 80's e350 van. Got my reman for $20. 1.25" bore. Gets the job done.

I used a dodge 2500 mc... Worked good stopping 40s. Google the swap, plenty have done it.

Yep the 2500 is a good swap when going to tons, but when staying with 30/8.8 I don't need that much

The TJ booster/master swap is pretty easy, but not direct bolt up. You have to cut the plunger and extend it and drill the hole in the plunger rod a little larger. There are some write ups on it. I have done it and it's AWESOME! I can lock up my 33s.

You can use any master off of an XJ, but of course you have to shorten the rod....I have an extra who wants it? You pay shipping....leave me a pm with a number to call you ....
It will if you swap the TJ booster too.
You must not have the 95 duel diaphram booster.
You could go with a 78 Mercury Grand Marquis with 4 wheel disc brakes, master.

Just did a little more research. YJ was originally a 4cyl. Apparently the 4 and 6 cyls have a different booster and mc. Since my TJ is a long term project I will pull the booster off tomorrow and modify it to work.

Are the proportioning valves from a TJ an upgrade? Any benefit?
