Anyone know what the Mobile 1 equivalent to a PH8A is? I guess I can go to the parts store and look up what Mobile 1 filter a 1994 F150 runs b/c that also ran the PH8A, but I tend to spend to much money in those places.....

After reading up on this i wouldn't run it more than 5 hours of running time in my oil. i would run it in my gas at 8-12 oz per 10 gallons.

when put in the oil it tends to;
dilute the oil.
effects the motor oils ability to hold dirt in suspension.
effects the dispersing ability.
lowers the viscosity level of the motor oil, which makes it less resistant to temp changes.

In the oil for a short time is helpful in loosening carbon deposits around the rings and sticky tappets which help the ticking noise.

in the gas it loosens carbon build up in the combustion chamber, on the valve stems(which can aid in the ticking noise) and carbon on the rings.

It leaves behind a lubricating film which adds life to the engine

its made from 3w oil, 20% solvent,dye,wintergreen(for smell) 779 ppm of a phosphorous additive and maybe more things

Drain a Qt. of oil out and add a bottle of Lucas....If you want to take it a step further, pull the valve cover and clean all the rockers and pushrods....Make sure you can blow through all the pushrods....I even taped a q-tip to one of the pushrods, dipped it in kerosene and reached down to the lifter tops and cleaned the gunk off....My tick went away.

can you take off the oil filter without having to drain the oil?

i'm thinking about doing the MMO additive, but should i do it on a fresh oil change? ie: 5 quarts of oil, 1 quart of MMO?

or should i add it to the oil when its got 500 or so miles left before i need it to be changed?

From experience..........Rislone, when used on a high mileage motor, can bring down a world of hurt over the long run. One time use to "free up'" a noisy lifter may be ok, but be careful.......Any sludge accessible to the rislone gets softened, displaced, and travels to the lowest point in the motor...the oil pan. On the 4.0, the relationship of the drain plug/pan bottom/oil pump pickup is such that even frequent oil changes will not remove the sediment once it gets there, which can eventually clog the oil pump pickup screen. Be very aware of your oil pressure after using rislone. If it starts acting strange (bouncing needle, low at idle, etc,,) you should drop the oil pan and check for a clog.

Using MMO will probaly do the same thing.

no not unless you feel like getting dirty. Oil will spill out of the hole. You need to drain the oil before you change the filter.

You can change the filter without draining the oil. No more oil will spill out of the filter than if you had drained the pan. The filter is on the side of the block. The oil is in the pan.
