Jeep started life as an indiana rig, 4 cyl. Moved to MD bought a welder and it was all down hill from there. it was rusty as get out so i started a frame off resto. Took about a year and and a half. All work done by my self and the help of some friends in a 1 and 1/2 car garage- it can be done! i wheel it every chance i get. just recently swapped over to tbi! thing works better than i could of ever wanted off road and i drive it on the street. planning a trip to rausch creek in PA april 25-27 if anyone is close and wants to join.

I got my YJ in a trade for my 1994 GMC K1500 about 3 years ago. I didn’t want to give up my 4wd but needed something more fuel efficient… what better than a 4banger jeep!! I drove it bone stock for about 7 months while I paid off some debt, and then the jeep bug hit. It started with some 130watt spot lights, then some 30in mud tires. As I wheeled more, gained more experience behind the wheel, and have tackled tougher terrains, I have evolved my jeep out of necessity, while still maintaining my mall-crawlin’ good looks
Here’s the current specs!

I purchased this Jeep in 1994 with a 4cyl intending on transplanting a small block chevy. Over the next 17 years I raised 2 kids and taught both of them to drive in the jeep and never got around to the swap. We covered about 100k miles of dirt road from Florida to Kentucky, blue ridge Mountains, Cumberland pass and many trails with the 4cyl and a lock-rite.
Aprox 2 years ago I decided to proceed with the V-8 project which turned into a full frame off rebuild. I replaced every part other than frame, tub windsheild/frame and front axle housing. The entire build thread can be read here on JEEPForum. Hopefully this one will be with me another 20 years.

When I was 17 years old I received a stock YJ. Took it off-road and wanted to do more. Installed a shackle lift to give better clearance for the 31” tires. After being tired of the shackles getting caught on everything I went with a 3.5” BDS lift. That held me over for a while after I purchased my first set of mud type tire in a 33” flavor. After a while I was tired of the lack of power the 4.2L offered. So time for the V8 swap. Started gathering parts, built some axles, and had everything ready. Over winter tore it down to a bare frame and started the build up on the first stage. Once done I had fun on 35” tires, but did not enjoy the carb. Installed a 350 TBI which worked “OK” but had its issues of not being able to supply enough fuel for my engine. Stretched it for more wheelbase and did the comp cut along with a lot of other work. Built a full cage, painted it, did true EFI, lots of parts breaking, engine and trans rebuilding, blew up Dana 300, wiped a cam lob, rocker arm adjuster nut got lose and screwed up a piston, and the list goes on and on and on.
Now, I am on 39.5” tires and love it. The power is there when needed and it just pulls through anything. Its fun on the streets as people think you are slow until you put the pedal to the floor. I’m sad I can't drift around corners like I could before when on 35s I have fabricated everything on this thing and its always fun to see how your ideas turn out.

-I purchased the jeep as a way to focus in when I changed schools, meet some new people, and learn a thing or two. It because a trial by fire as I soon broke about as much as I could on the thing. Truly the jeep saved me from myself. It's shown me a whole new world of things that I never thought possible and given me an outlet for my creativity. The jeep started as a neglected REPO that had sat for a year before I got it. The PO upgraded the axles and that's about all the good from them. The first year was spent fixing the PO mistakes and then the second year was spent fixing my own mistakes. Slowly learning and fixing one bolt at a time. The second year was the year of the bolt on, everything smitty built and nothing skidded. That lasted until I blew up the engine last year and decided to focus more on deep rock and harder lines. The first picture is on 35s the last two are on 33s.
