maintenance required light

How do I get the maintenace required light to go off on a 1992 2.5L YJ. I'd like to do it however the factory does it rather than rig something.

Do I need an obd1 codes reader/clearer or can I reset myself?

Sorry if this is beating a dead horse. I'm new to the YJ world and didn't see this in the faq when I was reading through or get much help from search.

It has one? With all the problems I have had with my YJ, I have never had mine go on, lol.

Sorry I could not be of any help.

You need the special Chrysler code reader to turn it off.
DRB I think they call it.

If if is like the one that is on my YJ, it is nothing more than a mechanical timer. You can unhook it and the light will go out. It is nder the dash above the gas pedal. It is a clear black plastic box with some plastic gears in it that you can see. Just unplug it.

It might have been one of them transitional vehicles.
I hate it when they do that.

Not sure if they have a scanner for ob1 but you could take it to Auto Zone. Have them read the code and they can turn off the check engine light too.
