Lower YJ Seat Brackets?

I got some practically new seats from a friend and tried to install them in my YJ with disappointing results. Basically the new seat are more of a racing style seat and is higher in the front by a few inches due to the shape of the lower seat not being flat like stock seats. I put them in and my feet don't even touch the floor board! lol.

Does anyone know a good replacement bracket that would lower the seats? I'm hoping not too have to fab something or get new seats. Thanks for the help.

i think you are going to be bummed out as everything i have read requires fabbing your own lowering brackets.

Cut and weld! I feel your pain; I am 5'5" and have a hard time touching the floor when I sit on the toilet, so you can just imagine the nightmare it is for me to drive my YJ! Hahahaha! Modify your stock seat risers so they fit the way YOU want your seat to fit you.

I have summit racing seats and had to fab the mounting by using 1' square tube and placed it underneath the top lip instead of on top. It leveled the seat and made it so I could fit under the steering wheel with my thighs.

Dang, I would think there would be a company out there that made shorter brackets. I used to be able to mod, but my brother took his welder back to Northern Cal and he was the welder . Has anyone tried that corbel brand or whatever it's called? I know they make them for their own seats...

Do you have a picture of your fab work?

The Corbeau Moab is probably what you're talking about. Pretty comfortable and looks badass, those are the seats I'm getting. They also make their own 4 and 5 point harnesses.

lowering seats

I lowered my seats 89 yj. By grinding out the lower front rivets or pivots. Drilled new holes in the supports and rebolted every back together. Worked great and easy. No welding.

[old guy random story]... I've made new brackets a couple times as the years/seats went by. The last time I had it perfect, with the front edge height of the seat feeling great. Then I saw that all my jeans were wearing out in the back just above the left knee. It seems every time I pressed the clutch, the jeans would rub hard on the seat edge. The seats were doing fine for wear, but not the pants. I recently altered the bracket to lower the front edge, will see how the new jeans do.

I'll take a couple pics today, the fold forward motion is still fully functional. Basically used a ruler as a strait edge on each support to scribe a line to cut so it was perfectly even and level and went to town on it.

I have MasterCraft Rubicon and had the same issue as you, too damn tall to reach the pedals. Loved the seats so I had to figure out something.

No dice, pics wont come out very well. Basically take you seat bracket out, open it up so the supports are vertical, measure and cut away. Word of caution, 1.5 inches is about all you can take out of it.

I have those seats. 5 years old and the stitching is separating. The fabric is splitting from the stitching. maybe I can save you from wasting your money.

Both seats and the passenger seat is hardly used but still splitting.

Ask me how they look now?
