Looking for input on spare tire

I currently have no spare tire and am running 31x10.50x15 tires and wheels on my 1995 Wrangler. Thinking of putting a spare on there and am wondering if a tire/wheel combination this big is going to cause a problem with the stock spare tire holder on my Jeep?
Any input would be greatly appreciated
Scott

That's the maximum size I'd put back there. I've had a 30x9.5x15 for a few years with no issues, and have some wiggle room for the 31's when I go to replace the tires, probably this time next year. I wouldn't go any bigger than 31's, personally.

I had a 33 on the stock carrier for about a year with no problem. The main issue is to make sure it's solidly bolted so there is no flopping and moving leading to breakage.

I have a 33 on mine and just needed to add some hockey pucks behind the stock bumpers to get the proper spacing. Have run this for 2 years with no problems and a buddy of mine has a 37 on his TJ for over 4 and no problems

It's not going to work with your setup. Summertime: yes. The stock carrier with 31 10.50 tires will hinder your hardtop liftgate in the opening and closing process. I played that game for a bit and it just didn't fly. I had to build a swing out carrier for mine.

Remove or shorten the bump stop for the gate and it will work no problem

my full size spare (31x10.50x15) rubs my bumper, but i have an aftermarket bumper. you cannot go bigger than a 31" spare on the back without a aftermarket tire carrier

I used to run a 33" spare on my stock setup. I don't anymore.

My buddy pondering the situation.

I have been running a 35 back there for a couple of years. A 33 for a couple before that. Make sure it isn't bouncing around and you should be fine.

See the following thread: Click Here. Throw on that tailgate reinforcement kit and some TJ hinges and you wouldn't have a thing to worry about.

I have that kit and I believe that's one reason the tub didn't bend. The tailgate also stayed fairly straight. My stock hinges bent pretty good though.
