Seriously though, filling out your profile can go a long way toward helping us help you. Im going to guess you found the right forum and have a YJ. I know depending on year two different style caps were used. Maybe this will help.

I bought the billet locking cap from Morris. It's not cheap, but since I moved my license to the tire I wanted something that was good looking and strong.

For what it's worth, I haven't seen a locking cap that can't be defeated with a flat blade screw driver. I guess it's like locking the doors with a soft top, I'd rather them take what they want and not dick up the rest of my junk.

I got mine because my gas cap was either stolen or I forgot to put it back on. Either way with my keys in it now I never forget!

I'd be surprised if any thief under the age of 35 or so could even find the gas cap on a YJ.

Very true won't stop a real thief, they won't even use the cap, they'll punch a hole in the tank and let it drain. But it may cause the rookie to look for an easier target. I don't lock my jeep soft top, I have a kill switch and don't leave anything of value in it.

I don't lock mine either, that's what I was getting at. People do lock doors with soft tops and then get them sliced up etc. A lot of newer cars have and anti-siphoning bar thing in the filler so they can't get anything through there anyhow. Like Reno said, they'll just punch a hole and drain it.

Ah sounds like my senior's moments. Gotta love caps with the tether strap on them.
The only other reason to have a locking cap is to stop the kids from introducing additives to your fuel system...rocks, sand, Pee etc. I remember the *** whoopin' I got from my dad 50 0r more years ago

Where do you people live?
Here, criminals at least earn their money selling drugs or steal from their employer, (the old fashioned way) then they go buy gas.
No need for a locking gas cap.

I got all of mine from Rock Auto when I was ordering other parts. I'd rather keep it locked and not have anything put into my tank that's not put there by me.
