Locker, or not a locker?

Well everybody, me and my friends got a free yj (beat to hel*) and I found what looks like it could be some kind of locker? Possibly? This is on the right side of the front axle if you were looking from the back. I believe it to be an hp d30. Its kind of like a square housing with two gears inside. Over the two gears is this circular object that can slide between the two cgears and connect them.

This unit is cable driven that has a fork on the end which will slide the circular peice left and right.

So any ideas?

its the vacuum disconnect axle thats been modified to use a cable, it locks the inter shaft to the outer shaft in 4wd mode, not a locker, but the cable actuated mod is still a good thing cause you dont have to worry about the vac lines breaking and losing your 4wd

Ok, i get it now. Thanks for letting me know. I guess this is a good thing, considering the previous owner welded the diff.
