locker front or rear???

a buddy of mine called me yesterday and asked me what i thought was the best route to go for putting a locker in his YJ. a guy at the shop said to go with a locker in the front, it's the best way to do it, ect ect... his dad said in the rear no questions asked. i say in the rear as well. seeing as it's his DD and he does NOT have manual locking front hubs. plus he's less likely to break stuff with it in the rear vs. the front..
what would other YJ owners recomend?

What kind of locker are we talking about? You should never put one in the Dana 35!

I just put an Aussie in the front. Reason 1) my 8.8 already had a limited slip Reason 2) I can't afford anything more than a lunchbox Reason 3) I dont want my rear to always be locked

If he has a D35 in the rear then he would be better off putting it in the front...unless he owns a junkyard stocked with spare D35 axles.

No matter what axle he has in the rear it is better to lock the front.

if you are only going to run one locker, do the front. or do the front first anyway. with only one you'll get better pulling power having the front locked. And there is of course the fact that locking the 35 rear is just stupid and a disaster waiting to happen. I did my front first with an EZ Locker. then when I did the 8.8 I locked it up with an ARB

It's not even a question. Put it in the front, or risk blowing up the rear axle (D35- light duty axle).

An Aussie locker would make a nice worry free locker. BTW, YJ's don't come with locking hubs from the factor.y

Lock'em Both !

I ran my D35's on my YJ and TJ locked for year's and only broke once. Just carry spare shafts, Heck if you Lock the D30 you should carry spare shafts for it also

^Except the D30 is a lot stronger than the D35, so there shouldn't REALLY be a need to carry spare shafts unless you're rocking some 37" monsters and are climbing rocks.
