Lock Right Quick Question

So I have a lock right in the box at home, and I am thinking about putting it in to play around for the week i come home from school, what I am wondering is, can I install the locker without removing the carrier? as in grinding a bit of something? I also have a spare dana 30 in the garage!

You have the remove the carrier and ring gear to install the locker in your 30. If you had 3.07s you wouldn't have to because the ring gear clears the cross pin so all you would have to do is pull the carrier. Just remember to use red loctite on the ring gear bolts when you go to reinstall and torque to spec. Same with bearing caps.

FWIW I've installed 2 of these, 1 in a YJ and one in my TJ.

Like said above the 3.07's won't allow you to remove the cross pin unless you remove the carrier and ring gear. I recommend marking the carrier bearing caps and keep the races to their appropriate side so you can install it the same way you took it out. I also marked my ring gear in relation to the carrier just for peace of mind.

Pulling the carrier really is no big deal. Dont let it scare you, as others mentioned just mark everything and put it all back in just like you found it. Game on.
