They called the tcase in '91 an NV231 instead of NP.. Is that actually true or a typo

89 YJ S, 2.5L/AX-5/NP231
99 WJ Limited, 4.0L/42RE/NP247

They are essentially the same. There was a name change from new venture to new process at some point. They refer to the same tc.

Good deal. I just always heard them called New Process in the YJs
