lift, shackles, clearance issues

Ok I have a 91 YJ. I put on a set of Rubicon 4" leaf springs used and they had some broken leafs so instead of having the full 5 packs I only used 4 on each. I also used a set of used homemade shackles I think that I got with the leafs and it got me 5.5" of total lift. The shackles they guy said are for 1.5" of lift but they are huge and seem like it would be more.

Ok the problem I am having is that the lift is the height I want which is perfect for the 35s I am running but the shackles drop down way to far in the front and is making it very very hard for me tp get my tires to any steep rocks to try and get over them. I was thinking about switching to smaller shackles but the loss of lift will cause me problems on clearing the 35s. I was wondering how many inches of lift would I get if I removed the shackles and keep the leafs and did a SOA? I don't want to go to high. So any suggestions or ideas will be greatly welcomed. I am on a modest budget so I cant just go out and drop $800 or so on a new 6" lift or anything on those lines.

So pictures to better help you to see my problem.

shackles get you 1/2 the increase length so if your shackles are 2 1/2" longer than stock (4") then you get 1 1/4" lift. yes shackles this long are a detrament on the trail. just changing the spring pertase from the bottom to the top will net you and average of 5 1/2" of lift, plus your 4" spring and you've got 9 1/2"! good luck with that driveshaft on that one I would recomend removing the shackles and changing fender flares to regain your clearance (TJ's, tube, warn cut outs, zenons, ect.)
