Looks to me like the vacuum connector off the side of the distributor vacuum advance port. Mine has one on it that looks exactly like that. Hose goes in the big side. Small side plugs into the vacuum port on the distributor.

It being disconnected might also cause your stumble since the dizzy isn't getting any advance.

Or... I could be completely wrong. Thought I would throw in a guess.
