Let the work begin!!!!!

Well folks, I have lurked, researched, bull****ted, and even helped a few folks in the last 7 months since buying my stock 1994 YJ, now it is time for some work .

I have been gathering parts rather feverishly over the last month and I am just about broke so I guess it is time to do the work.

Here is the list of parts.

Still on order
8.8 master rebuild kit
4.10 gears for 8.8 and D30 (should be here tomorrow)
RockCrusher diff covers (backordered )
Brown Dog 2" motor mount lift.

On Hand
8.8 rearend out of a 1995 Exploder
M.O.R.E. 8.8 install kit
2.5" Old Man Emu springs
Old Man Emu Nitro shocks
Greaseable Daystar bushings and shackles
SYE kit
CV Shaft
2" Body Lift
7" TJ Flares
1/2 Gallon black label Jim Beam
Case of Michelob Amber Bock
Liter of Vodka, V8 juice and other essentials...
12 pack diet coke

And now the plan ...
In the morning I'm gonna start off with the 2.5" springs and shocks.
Front sway bar and rear track bars are going in the trash heep when I do this as well. Hopefully will get to the flares on Sunday.
I got the 8.8 cleaned up and painted in the garage right now. The rebuild kit will be here on Tuesday according to UPS, and the gears tomorrow. So I should be rebuilding the 8.8 next weekend and doing the install the next weekend. I will probably drive it around in front wheel drive after the install for a week and get the SYE and CV shaft in it the next weekend.
The only parts I have not gotten or ordered yet are the brake line extensions and 1330 large yoke for the 8.8.
The next month or so should see a radical transformation from this...
Where it started...

Where it is now...

If me plans work, I will work all weekend and give you folks an update each evening. If anyone has any last minute advice, feel free to jump in. I am not sure how this will go but what hell, it's gonna be intresting... And with any luck I should end up with a decent heep on the other side, .
Wish me luck!!!!!

Dale

one thing I always forget to do is power wash all the crud off before working underneath. Its a really bad combo when you bang your head under the jeep and then the vibrations knock some dirt into your eyes.

The pics are just some from the files available, I have washed it since the last one was taken. I am sure I will have a face full of trash tomorrow night though .
Thanks
Dale

Ok, what is JB80? Only thing I can match up is JB=Jim Beam, so what's the 80?

Looks like a good plan! I'm not a huge fan on bodylifts.... But if that's what you want, go for it.

I started to price an 8.8 and a 4banger front axle too... Then up is the lift kit, SYE and 33's.... It's just too bad it'll all have a big price tag. :\

Good luck! Can't wait to see the pics when it's done.

with on 2.5" springs and a 2" motor mount lift i don't think your really gonna need the sye/cv combo. That and i don't think you'll like the look of 7" wide flares. Other than that, have fun and don't get tooo drunk.

And the lift is in!!!!!

Well I can't believe I got it done today. This is my first lift so I think I did ok getting it done in one day.
I started about nine oclock this morning and finished up about 8:30 this evening.

Here it is...

Not sure those Aussie's can convert metric though, I think I got a lot more than 2.5" Sorry it is dark but I think you can see it ok. I hope the springs settle out some.

Here is a reference pic...

I will take more pics tomorrow and with any luck the flares will get done tomorrow.
I took of the front and rear track bars and sway bar when I did this and it was rather easy. If you are ever wanting a convienent time to take them off; well when you install a suspension lift they fall right out, no pressure on them I guess .
Anyway, I'll go back over the posts from today and give a few replies and answer any questions.

Well as you can see.. if I don't get some sag in these springs the BL and MML are on the back burner until I get some 35's .
