LED Replacement dash lights

I'm getting ready to upgrade my dash lights to LED's, since I cannot seen them at all during the day.

Which bulbs are 194? There are 2 different sizes for the gauge lights... A smaller bulb for the turn signal + warning lights, and larger ones for the rest of the gauges. What is the other model number needed to replace everything?

*If there are any errors, please let me know and I will correct it*

Just for future reference, here are the model numbers that came up for the Wrangler's dash:

194 -- Used for speedometer, tachometer, and center gauges. Also listed as PC194 (bulb w/ plastic base)

74 -- Looks just like the 194, but about half the size. Used for the turn signal, shift light, and warning lights between the speedometer and tachometer

1445 -- Not really sure what this is used for. Looks like a miniature version of the stop/turn light

No, I haven't upgraded yet... I found the autolumination site and superbrightleds.com

Going to order some LED's soon though, since its impossible to see the warning lights during the day.

Any updates on this? I'd like to try the LEDs in the gauges / dash.

Also what size bulbs are used in the HVAC unit?

There are several different styles of 194 bulbs on that site.
It look's like the "matrix" design would work best to throw out a wide pattern.

I am installing the white face overlays in my guages for better daytime visibility, and I would like them to be red at night.

It will be interesting to see what you end up with as a result. Keep us posted.

Actually, I need a spotlight on my gas guage. All my other cars have an audible and visual reminder when the fuel is low. I've run out twice in the Heep. Now my kids watch it for me! LOL.

You might want to reconsider the red idea. It may be fine on a F111, but in a Jeep, not for me. I swapped ini Autometer gauges and hate the red I made the lights. Next time I have to pull the panel, I'm going back to white.

I think the white faced gauges would make the lighting color more obvious and brighter. I can understand why you wouldn't like the red lighting on a white background, it must be VERY red.

I tried red bulbs on my 1990 YJ and I loved them, and will probably do the red on this YJ too, but I had the stock black faced gauges.

Do you have a pic of them on at night?
I'm used to red instruments at night in the rotorcraft I fly.
I wish I flew F111's.
It probably is a moot point to have red when the lighting all around you is white, unlike 2000 feet up in the sky at night with only gournd lighst that are white.
But my Jeep is red, and I was thinking it might look better too.
Tial and error, and input from others.
So if you have any night pics I'd appreciate it.

For anyone wanting to see the red at night, the same company makes a set of gauges known as the ES gauges. These guages are somewhat close in appearance to bone stock (less the digitial odometer), and at night, they illuminate red.

Red on black would probably be better than red on white. Just my $0.02. Anyway, there's a visual on the link so that you can see these gauges illuminate: http://www.autometer.com/cat_gaugeop.aspx?sid=67

Does anyone have a schedule of how many bulbs are required behind the dash?

I see these part numbers listed under "Instrument general" at the autolumination site:
37
53
658
74
PC194

Also, do LED bulbs dim with the dimmer control or are they constant brightness?
