LED Lights

Trying to decide on switching out my off road lights over my windshield to led's. This will allow me to park my jeep in the garage without having to manually turn down the light bar to avoid hitting my overhead light. No I will not move the overhead light. My light bar measures about 46 inches across. The largest led's would cost about a 1000. Is it worth it? I welcome the cool look and ease of parking in my garage but is it worth it? Would a smaller set of led's look just as cool? Your thoughts.

cool is totally dependent on what you feel, not us. whether it is actually a useful set of lights, is something everyone can help with though

Great question. We just added two flood LEDs up front, and replaced my Hella 6" with LED spots. Got the D2 Dual Beams for up top (2600 lumens) and the Dually clear floods (1300 lumens) for down lower. http://www.desertled.com/dually_series_led.htm
In my opinion, the white light of the LEDs is much nicer than what I had before. The 2600 lumen lights are just plain bright. Was out wheeling with a guy that had the 50" bar on the front of his JK along with some other assorted LED lights. Had him turn them all on coming down a hill and they were hard to look at in broad daylight.
I guess it depends on what you want. We are planning a night trail run shortly and I wanted to be able to see the trail immediatly in front of me and the white LED light just seems to work better. The D2's are expensive but I like the light difference. Will see if I can grab a picture.

Then try posting in the street jeep section. They've got a whole bunch of useless garbage stuck on their jeeps.

Can you mount just your existing bar 2 or 3 inches lower on the windshield frame?

What I plan on doing is replace the 4 lights with 4 high powered LED lights. A whole row of LED's is not necessary. I'm not trying to light up the city. This will cost less and wIll look great and most of all...will save me time by not having to lower the light bar when entering the garage.

I'm missing the point on the cost. Stuff you already own vs. expensive LED's.

Determine your lighting needs and meet them. That's lumen output, scope of beam (spot or flood), area to be illuminated (placement of lights) and number of specific lights to meet that need. If its for looks then take those KC covers and hot glue them all over your jeep. That'll look sikkk!!

Rigid Industries 50 inch light bar across the windshield, it's low profile, and illuminates Mars from here.

You can go 40 if you want but it won't look right. Expect to spend over a thousand on that. Now if you're never going to use it, then don't even bother... but you'll look cool as ****! That's for sure!

Another avenue of approach is getting a low profile light bar, then adding the more square shaped lights that are supposed to go on the front of Hondas and ****, you know... the $10 oval shaped driving lights at Pep Boys? You can make into a Tomb Raider style light bar like this.

Not LEDs like you want, but wtf is the point in spending a lot more money on LED lighting if you're not going to use it?

Well...after giving it some thought, I have decided to keep what I have. Too much money for the look. I will put the money into the engine or something. Maybe even upgrade to a v6. Thanks for all of your suggestions.
