leak at front of transmission and back of engine

Hey guys,
I just finished servicing my 89 wrangler, and noticed a leak at the front of my transmission. It's not the valve cover gasket, because I just replaced and tightened to spec.

also, I just replaced the trans fluid a few weeks back and the fluid that you see on the starter is pretty new which makes me think its the trans that is leaking. I changed the oil 1500 miles ago and there is fully synthetic 10w-30 in both.

much thanks,
Fellows

Just because you tightened it to spec doesn't mean the valve cover isn't leaking. That looks awfully high up to be trans fluid beside the fact that it's more on the engine block than the bell housing. I would spray it all down and watch to see where it leaks from, and I'll wager a dollar it's the rear of the valve cover.

Check the plug that the oil gauge goes into. It is right behind the valve cover.

X2 Clean it, let it dry and watch it. Feel around for leaks when cool.
