Leaf spring hardware

Been searching, and can't find the definite answers. I'm ordering springs for the YJ and I want to replace all the bolts in the shackles and the frame eye. I'm expecting to have to cut some bolts to get them out, but even if I don't I would like new bolts and bushings.

What bolt diameter and pitch for the shackle end?

What bolt diameter and pitch for the frame eye end?

Not worried about length, I can easily measure that, and I know it can vary depending on shackle thickness.

9/16". Thread pitch shouldnt matter as long as you get nuts to match.

You dont need pitch. Cause if you replacing the bolt, the nut also should be changed.

For which? I see references to the shackle end being different than the end attached to the frame.

Correct, I just wondered if stock was course or fine thread.

If you are getting shackle bolts get greasable ones. They sell them on EBay

After a quick search Mr. Bolty says 1/2" on shackle end.

I crawled around under Mauser and confirmed the bolts I will need.

Frame spring mounts are 9/16-12NC and need 4" length.

Upper and lower shackle bolts are 1/2-20NF and need 4.5" length. That length will work with 3/8" thick shackles.

Ordered all that including washers and nylock nuts from McMaster. All grade 8.

4" wont hit the nylon if you use nylock nuts and 3/8 shackles. ask me how I know. I used 1/2"x4 1/2" with I believe 13 thread count. the stock ones were a finer thread
Granted I used g8 washers on both sides too

I'm not sure if you are disagreeing with my measurements, or just confirming. But I noted 4" for the fixed frame end. Shackle thickness is irrelevant on that end. On the shackle end, you want 4.5" long, as I noted. So we agree.

I don't want to cause someone issues, so I'm going to edit my post here. After installing my lift with 3/8" thick shackles, I found that these lengths worked, but it would have been better if both sizes had been 1/4" longer. Usually you can't find these in 1/4" increments, so that means they should be 1/2" longer. You could cut 1/4" off if you wanted. I wouldn't.

I used the lengths posted above, and it worked, but I had to omit washers on both sides of the frame mounts, and I had to omit the washer on the head side of the shackle bolts.

Next time I would go with this:
Frame spring mounts are 9/16-12NC and need 4.50" length.

Upper and lower shackle bolts are 1/2-20NF and need 5.00" length. That length will work with 3/8" thick shackles and SAE washers on both sides of each bolt.
