Last minute question before installing my lift...

OK, I've got everything.

The only thing I don't have is new bolts for the shackle/frame mounts for the springs. I'm just going to re-use the old ones, I guess I should be ok?

I sprayed everything with PB-blaster tonight, going to tear into it tomorrow. Trashing the rear track bar, but should I definetly keep the front one on since it will be on the road at times? And the sway bar discos will be put on as well.

Thanks.

Not really sure what kit you're puttin on, but I would leave the front on. It's definately a matter of opinion. I personally had horrible bumpsteer and put mine back on. As far as the bolts, good luck. I had to cut most if not all of mine off. I PB'd for 2 weeks beforehand. I might have ben able to remove most of them with a couple hours torquing. However, I would invest in new bolts. I had some issues with bolts, mostly the ones on the non shackle end, had seized to the bushing sleeve. Only way out was the anglegrinder.

Good luck

Yeah Good luck with the bolts. When I put my lift on the front and rear main eye bolts were a ***** to get out. Cut of the head and the bolt still would not slide out.

Had to use a 3/8 ratchet extenstion which fit into the hole and beat with a hammer. Only had a regular carpenter hammer at the time. Beat those bolts for a couple hours before I got im out and that was after spraying everything with PB blaster for three weeks twice a week before hand.

After that day I bought a much heavier hammer!

Do yourself a favor and get greasable bolts all around (shackle and maineye). It's nice being able to lubricate pivot points and even nicer when you take things apart years later and the bolts just slide out like they were installed yesterday. Otherwise you will be cutting them out again at some point in time.

Man, thats one thing that sucks about the north. I just installed the lift on my yj. No PB or anything like that and all the bolts came right out.
