Keys
hi Folks,
Is there a way for the dealer to make a new ignition key for me based on my vin number like Chevy can sometimes do? I only have one ignition key for my 89 wrangler, and with 181,000 miles on it you can imagine how worn down it is, I tried to have a new key made from my old one but the old one was just too worn out and the new one doesn't work. I'd hate to have to get my ignition re-keyed and the key I have now is looking like it can break at anytime. options? Thanks. ![]()

Just replace the key locks (door and ignition) on your Jeep with good aftermarket ones ..
The door locks fail, and the ignition one isn't worth holding onto. Another option is to visit an auto-wrecker, and pull the locks from an S-10 truck (pre-95) and install them into your Jeep .. a direct replacement / fit.

We're supposed to use keys to start our Jeeps?
