Just finished my custom speaker/toolbox 56K no no

Well the weather finally convinced me to get outside and break out the power tools. So after about 4-5 hours I came up with a custom box to hold a speaker and my toolbox. Its completely bolted to the jeep and waterproof which helps!

This was just the initial idea. Get them both in and behind the seat.

Just the beginning, cuts and ideas.

Test Fitting (note the slant on the left to clear the back door handle/lock)

Coated with Truck Bedliner paint and clear coated PLENTY

Bolted the ToolBox to the Speaker Box, trying to keep the rattles to a minimum...

Bolted the amp down, sits right under the back seat (yes its cheap, i know.)

Finished Product (the wood under the toolbox is gone now, it was just there temporarily as a spacer.)

I'm REALLY happy with the way it turned out. The seat folds and comes out just find and the back door shuts. I bolted it down before I put the sub in it, so the bolts are hidden. Let me know what you think.

Looks pretty good. The only thing I would worry about is the exposed sub, but if you live in an area that doesn't have too much theft then I don't think it would be a problem.

Thanks for making it click free, when I previewed, it showed the pics. But yah. I picked the sub up at Best buy for $21, it was marked down from $140. So score there. I park in my garage at night and have private parking at work. So not too worried. Thanks for the compliment though!!!

As hot as the floor of a Jeep gets that amp needs something under it or it may over heat on a long trip. A piece of left over MDF would do great.

Well, at $21 and not being worried about theft that's nice. How does it sound?

BTW, pics won't show up until you have 50 posts and 30 days of membership, unless you purchase a membership upgrade of course.

Bad idea putting the sub facing up. You won't gat any of the benefits of the sub as the sound will disapear. Best to put the sub facing down.

Oh man... the tools use to rattle to high hell. So I went and got that tool drawer foam stuff at Sears. the tools are SO much quieter now. I am going to buy a new amp (just snagging a $20 ebay special) and its gonna be bolted behind the tool box, keeps it covered and it will be bolted to the MDF. As far as the sound, I couldn't tell you yet. The stupid amp lights up, but the RCA connection is toast, fooled me once again. If I hate the sound, I'll rebuild it facing down. Thanks for the replies!

If you go to a local hardware store and find that spray paint.. its Hammered Finish, gives it a rough surface, they have the clear coat for that right next to it, hit it with a few layers and it just catches dust and repels water pretty good. I'll try to get a pic of the can i used.
