June 2015 YJOTM Vote Now!

If you are not a supporting member (red or green name) you must post when you vote for it to be counted. No soliciting votes, period. If I see 3 new accounts vote for you because you asked for them through social media etc. you will be disqualified. No self-votes will be tolerated, don't be selfish. Please let me get all 11 up before you post! Here are the contestants:

BarryBum
She is my son's 95 Rio with a 4 inch Old man Emu lift and 2 inch body lift riding on 33 inch BFG's. We just completed the Jurassic park mod. The red is all vinyl with the Jurassic park Decal kit. We affectionately call Her T-Rex because she is bigger than your normal jurassic jeep.

Picked up this YJ 3 years ago in great shape. Little did I know I was buying more than a cool Jeep, but a way of life. Drove it stock for a year, then the itch started. At first I kept it simple and wheeled it stock, then everything started to snowball.

I started gathering parts in 2013 to lift, then one thing led to another and soon I was spending most of the winter freezing my butt off outside working on this thing. I am no mechanic by any means so almost everything was a struggle. It really is amazing how much inspiration and knowledge you can get from this forum, and thanks to a few members for steering me away from a few bad decisions and into good ones. I really wouldn't have this thing if it wasnt for you guys!
In the end, I'm just happy to have a more capable rig for adventures with the family, they really love it too! See ya on the trail

I drove it 2000+ miles and spent a week in the mountains of Colorado, and recently pulled it out to moab for a few days of fun.

History:
I've had my YJ for about 5 years. It started out as a daily driver with the 258 straight 6 and a 5 speed. The PO bought it from Arizona so I was fortunate enough to get it practically stock with no rust, which is rare for Michigan. It evolved into a weekend warrior for me and now has a Ford 302 V8 in it from a 1994 mustang GT. I started out not knowing much about working on cars but over time have learned and done all of the work on it myself. I've learned how an axle swap, engine swap, wiring, ujoints, axle seals, install a lift, etc. You name it, I've learned it from my YJ. My goal has always been to keep it street worthy to still be able to drive it to work but be capable enough to go to any of the parks and trails in Michigan.

This is the first pic I could find from after I bought it and drove it home:

How it sits now:

A couple pics from my last few times out wheeling:

1993 Jeep YJ 4.0l 5speed

2.5" OME leaf spring lift
5/8" shackle lift
1.25" body lift
Ford Windstar cowl air intake
35x12.5r15 General Grabbers with full size grabber spare
Raised front fenders 4"
Dana 30 - one piece axle shaft conversion
Smittybilt front stinger bumper
Custom rear stinger tire carrier/bumper
Led tail lights
Locking 30mm ammo can center console with radio inside of it
Locking 50Cal ammo cans on both rear wheel wells

I bought my YJ about a year ago off a guy who wanted a lifted jeep look, but not the capability, which means I have been finding and fixing all the issues with this jeep and am still fixing everything from him. I bought my jeep solely on the fact that it was fuel injected on leaf springs without all the rust that we expect in Ohio from 22 year old jeeps.

The wife and i had a 1992 YJ in the past it was a great jeep but one mishap on the trail one day took out the motor and that was the end. So we sold it and regretted it ever since

i had a 1994 Bmw 325is that was a great car but just was not what i was looking for and then "Emma" showed up on Craigs List, i found a buyer for the bmw @3800.00 and the next day i went to see her.

The lady selling had her listed for 3500.00 with the bran new lift tires and wheels but after looking over her closely i said im sorry but the best i could offer would be 2400.00 and to my surprise the lady said That's fine so i paid her in cash and was on my way home with my new YJ

Since i got her i took on the task of Rebuilding Ground up including frame, tub, and lots of gutting, cutting, grinding, and welding All was done in the driveway with the most basic of tools and ALOT Of Very Long Days and Nights but still only took about 3weeks to put her all back together. All told She turned out Just the way i wanted and im loving it

I still have a bunch of things i want to get done but it is time i put them off for now and work on them at a later time , I need a Break LOL

And Current

Sagerist

4 Angry Squirrel powered YJ sitting on 33x10.5 tires with 4.10 gearing and AX-5 manny tranny.

She came to us as a wedding gift (i know right? who does that! people who likes jeeps!). She had oil blow by in the air filter, the water pump died a few days before her maiden moab voyage. Thus here are the things we have done to her since we got her, which I have done all myself with the assistance of everyone on the forum.

Probably be the first and last, kinda mostly stock entry before the next phase of mods.

-Old Man Emu 36Rs all the way around with bilstein 5100s
-New water pump
-CB Radio install
-52 Inch lightbar with Rough country windshield mount
-flushing of ALL of the fluids on her, so fresh
-custom home-made speaker wedges
-fixed all of the gauges
-Brake line relocations
-new softtop
-Brown dog Motors 1" motor mount lift
-Fixed overheating clutch fluid problem
-trimmed stock fenders
-Homemade oh ***** handles out of paracord

I purchased my Jeep (IROCk) when I was in college on July 27 2004. I had been scouring the classifieds of Charlotte NC and the surrounding areas for a Jeep. When I purchased IROCk she had 32” A/T’s, 4” RC lift, and a Chevy 4BBL 305ci. Since that time I have put close to $16,000 more in parts in it. This includes new engine, multiple transmissions, drive shafts, unit bearings, and aftermarket parts. I do ALL of the work myself. She gives me trouble from time to time, but with all the blood, sweat, and tears I doubt she could ever be sold.

Don't have many wheeling pics because I'm wheeling not photographing but here are some.

-My name is Jordan. 19. This thing has been a HUGE learning experience. Love wheeling it and working on it! Got the jeep as nice and stock as i could find, and afford(bought when i was 16). The Only thing this jeep had done to it from the PO was a body lift and it was sticker-bomb'd. As soon as i got it, i began (in my opinion) improving it. Anyways, its not quite where i want it to be, but its getting closer with every mod i make. Maybe someday it'll be "done".

Thanks, heres some pics:

YJ Year of Production: 1989

Specifications and modifications:

4.2L I-6 with 56,000 original miles. (Seriously!) Mostly OEM: Recently restored to original Spinnaker Blue Metallic, original inside and out with a few notable exceptions. The dash has been entirely rebuilt as none of the gauges worked, so an all-Autometer setup has been installed, along with an aftermarket deck. The vehicle was purchased with a hard top (which appears to have been a CJ7 top), and has since been replaced with a Rampage full steel door replacement kit. The wheels are aftermarket, though stylistically close to the later model YJs so it seems. The rear seat is a Corbeau replacement, though OEM style. Other than that, the only other major departure is using OEM chrome HALF door mirrors on the full door, with a mirror relocation bracket, to facilitate legal removal of the full doors. Other than that, I’ve tried to keep this thing stock-looking and classic.

Brief history:

Check it out at http://www.kdreeves.com/megaman-my-z...kup-to-painted.

Short version? I bought it from a guy in Georgia, second owner, and babied it back to life over the last four months. It’s incredibly low mileage, runs like a top, and is cleaner than a whistle as far as I can tell. Every chance I get, I treat it right: Replacing the antenna mast housing with a brand new chrome piece... Sending back the black vinyl lettering and getting a set more perfectly matched, to make sure it looks as close to showroom as possible... But you know what? As pretty as it is? I drive it. I bomb around, hit the beach, get muddy, and hose it off every chance I get, recently repainted or not. It's not a rock climber, and so it's not the musclebeast you see on most of the forums, but for a classic YJ, I think it's a ton of fun. And most importantly... I LOVE this vehicle.

-Year: 1989

-Specifications: Wrangler YJ, Base model with 4.2L I6, White

-Modifications:
Mopar multi-port fuel injection
2.5" lift
31x10.5x15 BF Goodrich A/T tires

very large tow hitch
4.10 gearing
52" LED light bar
Many internal LED light strips (read my LED guide: ) )
Vacuum gauge (read my vacuum gauge guide )
5000 lb Warn Winch with ARB winching kit
ARB high output onboard air compressor, hose, tire fill kit.
stainless steel braided brake hoses, 304 SS brake hard lines
All of the available tops and doors are in my garage... just waiting for their moment to shine.
Tuff Stuff lockable tailgate storage
3 gigantic amplifiers, upgraded dash speakers, speaker wedges in the rear, and a 10" subwoofer. Auxilary-In on the radio deck
5 watt 2m an 440 mhz ham radio with relatively 'high gain' omnidirectional comet antenna which does not need a grounding plane.
120 VAC inverter (for laptop computers)
removable Jurassic Park magnets for the half doors.

-History: Legend has it, there were two previous owners of this Jeep. The first girl bought it new in her late teens to early 20's. She left it in the United States as she immigrated to Amsterdam. Her brother used it occasionally in the summer to tow his fishing boat 1 mile back and forth to the lake, it was eventually transferred over to him as second owner. He owned it for about 20 years, only driving it in the summer on nice days for boating. As far as the recent history goes... it has received a lot of attention in basic maintenance and add on parts listed above. I take it fly fishing throughout the steelhead alley corridor, to the beach, to the rural country dirt/mud roads, to NY and back to Cleveland at a snails pace every few months. I one day dream of installing a cup holder!

Traded a 87 toyota on 35s for this jeep , the po bed lined the tub which I'm not crazy about , it was kind of a hacked together mess but I've had it apart head to toe and made most of the mods , it's a very good performing rig .
