Jeep YJ 2.5l swap to v8

Anyone got a listing of everything I would need to do this? I've got the money, just not the experience but that's what my friends are for

I'm pretty much a novice when it comes to cars but I know parts and stuff just not how to put it all together, so if anyone has a list or something that would be great!

Thank you!

P.S. Already did a bunch of searching around on forums and Novak, not finding what I need.

Here's a few resources on the forum I've run across with info about this. I've never personally looked into it:

The FAQ has some notes on it: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/f...y-here-451154/

Some discussions about this from a while back: http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f12/p...-swap-1180324/

If you get into specifically which motor you're looking to swap, there's more items you can find. Under the page selector at the top of the page is a brown bar, and in that is a "Search this Forum" option. That's usually how I find useful things.

I hope those links give you something to start with.

What engine, tranny, axle or other first of all. This is not an easy project and will take a lot of time on your part. I know.

Engine I'm not sure, LS1 maybe out of an impala, any 350, nothing super expensive, something I can get cheap and rebuild

Tranny: more than likely the AX15 to save money, get it from a junkyard Jeep, that or the 700R4

Axle: Ford 8.8 33 spline unless I can't find one then I would go with Dana 44

You really need to finalize your parameters first before we can answer. I have a 03 Tahoe 5.3 with a 4L60E trans and 8.8 axle with 4:10 gears. Your question is like walking into McDs and asking for a sandwich. I have to admit I really believe this combo is the best for me. It is not what I first thought of but hey it really works and it is a real BEAST. Anything custom is never CHEAP even if you do it yourself, it is a labor of not love but NEED.

"finalize your parameters" you obviously need to re read the question, good analogy though.

OK Van. BUT, "I have the money" and then you say you want to "save money" later. You are still not sure what you want. I went into mine knowing I would have do it all (with a bit of help from my friends) and it was more expensive and time and labor intensive than I imagined. BUT it is/was all worth it. It is one of the most enjoyable projects I have done among many bike and car rebuilds. I am sure you will feel the same. Good luck.

Having the money and not wanting to drop 3 grand on a Factory 6.0 is different lol, but yeah I'm looking forward to the swap and I'm sure it will be an experience to remember. Thanks for pitching in though!

I bought the 5.3 from a guy I know (and he owns a garage) I paid $400 for the engine and compt. with the wiring. CHEAP as far as I am concerned. It did have 150K on the engine but I was not worried as these last 200K plus.

Yeah I agree on the not worrying about the rebuild as the motors are mini tanks, I've seen a few LS1's and such come across Craigslist for 4-600 so it won't be hard hunting for that, it's just all the rest of the parts to go along with it, stuff I didn't account for going into the project, but I don't think I'll ever find the exact parts list, something will evidently come up
