Jeep Wrangler YJ Lightbar

Im new to this site and dont really know if this post should go here....

I dont know if anyone else out there among the JY owners is like me but im really interested in getting the mopar lightbar for my jeep wrangler. i hust love the way it looks and find all the other lightbars out there to fail in comparision to it. Problem is, they are hard to find. Ive spent hours looking through the internet looking for one only to find crappy versions advertised. Does anyone out there know where i might be able to locate one?

I make light bars too. They mount over your hinges like the one shown but are much nicer. They hold 4 lights on the top and 2 on the bottom and I sell them for $150

Pics of your light bar? I'm looking for something that mounts solid enough to hold a pond boat off my windshield frame.

I count 5? :D

He said "like the one shown" apperently to the fact they mount over the hinges.

The one in the pic was for a friend which is why it has 5 lights on top and braces on the side. I made a jig when I built it so I could build more. This is a 6 light that doesnt require any drilling. One like you see on the jeep is maybe $20 more. I build each one so I'm pretty flexible.

Is this the one you're looking for?

Not mine but I was gonna contact the guy for some of the other parts. I think he's kinda far from you, but i figured i'd throw it out there. Honestly those tabs look a bit flimsy to me, I went with the Olympic 4x4 maxi light bar:

With those big kc 69 series lights, it's a bit over the top, in more ways than one :)

The one I got obviously only has 4 spots, but I think I saw one with 5 on Craigslist before I decided to go with this bar, and by then it was sold. The tabs are a bit more beefy as they have 3 sides; horizontal on top where you bolt the light, and two vertical below for support, all welded to the bar. And you can rotate it down if needed for clearance in a parking garage or whatever. Though wiring it was a bit tricky. If you want I can see if I have any pics of when I installed it.

That looks really good, I wish I had seen those before I went and bought a bar that didn't have as many spots as I wanted

I built it to be tough. When we trail ride our lights all get beaten or broken. It is out of the drivers view and it makes a good handle when your getting in or out.

I'll definitely hit you up if anything happens to this one. Haha if I've got any money left of course. Mine's a plow rig not a trail rig (unfortunately), but I live in a heavily wooded area and I've already pulled a tree limb out of the intake on the cowl after hurricane sandy...

I'm having mine built right now. It's based on the windshield armor premice and it will accommodate a 36" light bar.

And yes, they will be available for sale.

robilt 11-14-2012 09:28 PM

Im in Florida so I've been through some storms but never had to plow snow afterwards.

I know you only have 5 posts but for cripes sake please resize your pics. It ruins the whole thread.

I'm gonna have to get my 9 year old to show me how to do that. I'm typing with one finger here.

It would help if I paid closer attention, wouldn't it? :D I doubt the OP is still looking for one. His post is almost 2 years old. I actually gave one away like the one he wanted. Built this one to replace it. Wanted low profile & very little amp draw.
