Jeep won't start - Starter doesn't start

I come outside this morning to leave for work, and my Jeep doesn’t want to start. I turn the key to the “ON” position, and you can hear the fuel pump do its cycle. When you turn the key to the start position you can hear the fuel pump pump, but the starter doesn’t engage and turn over the engine. My first thought is the ignition switch, since it seems like every vehicle I own has the same damn problem. It eventually did start, but it took a while. Anything else I should look at?

you can also have somebody give the starter a whack while you are turning the key. Sometimes there is a deadspot in there and a whack will help it get by. The starter will likely need to be replaced.

replace the starter, get rid of the core. Just did mine, got out for 60 bucks after i gave them my shot starter, 60 bucks for peace of mind knowing its new and has a lifetime warranty - priceless.

i would do a little trouble shooting before you just start replacing parts. why spend money on parts that are good if you dont have to. unless moneys no object. go and but a starter, battery, cables, starter relay, ignition switch

Well my plan was never to throw parts at the problem. I'll take a look at the starter, I know I was having a similar problem on another car and the cables were loose on the starter. Only thing different is that after a little bit she did start up, and I didn't wiggle any cables or push/roll the Jeep.
