jeep won't start

ok, so I seem to have a bit of an electrical problem. My jeep wasn't starting (before the battery died) and my battery was completely shot. So I went ahead and installed a new starter and a new battery yesterday. When I turned the key on I got electrical power and all was fine. As soon as I turned the key to start everything shut-off. Now I don't even get electrical power at all. I can't even turn my lights on. I took the battery back to the store. They tested it and the battery is good. I am not an electrical guy at all so I really need some help on this one. Thanks!

Clean or replace your battery cables.

You are experiencing a high voltage drop under load. Most likely cause (as mentioned above) is a broken or corroded battery cable and/or connections at the battery, starter, grounds, or starter relay.

If your cables are original to the Jeep, toss then, they are more than 20 years old and should be replaced. They break down internally due to corrosion of both the cabling itself and where the connectors attach to the copper cables.
