Jeep shuts off while I'm driving

I have no idea why this would be happening. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

A classic problem with the 4.2's ignition system is the Ignition Module is getting flakey.
My 89 did the same thing. Driving along and the engine stop like someone turned the key off.
Wait a couple of minutes and it starts up again. Popped a new one in, problem solved.

Yup, 99% chance it's the ICM.

Yep, ICM. I drove my 4.2 '89 off the lot a couple months ago and on the way home it turned off on the highway lol. Only did it that one time, but about a month later the ICM completely stopped working, so get it checked out or replaced very soon if possible.

Had the same. Found the connector between the tub and fuel tank corroded, so I'd run out of fuel. Replace plug and, viola, no more issues.

Mine did that with the Fuel pump connector being loose. I replaced the fuel pump, to further determine it was the connector.

The 4.2 has a mechanical fuel pump on the engine.

ICM from Autozone works great. Most likely your problem like mentioned above.

It starts back up. It almost didn't start back up yesterday though. It took a few times but it started back up.
