My jeep is custom designed to conquer any parking lot and dominate any curb in the state of California.

I think with all the heavy steel tubing around my Jeep i can handle most all impacts ... with the exception of the pole that Rutt hit

I don't think any of our rigs could take Rutt's pole. Id like to see how said pole faired.

Wells lets see here
Front axle - $2000, locker & Regear... $1000.
Tires... $2000
Then you have nice tires stacked up in the corner on no rims and a decent axle in the garage next to the jeep.
.....
seriously... you will need $5-6K for beer and weed $ in college. leave the jeep alone.

Start by looking at a whole bunch of pictures of Jeeps and read a whole lot of threads on this forum and decide what exactly you want, then check out prices on how much it will cost to get your Jeep there. Go to your local pick-a-part junkyard and get a price list. Check the classifieds here. Surf Craigslist. Get a Quadratec catalog. Decide how much you know how to do yourself, and how much time you have to do it. How much do wheels cost? Well, which ones do you want? My bare ZJ Orvis snowflake alloys cost me $100 off of Craigslist, but new Mickey Thompson rims would have set me back over $1k. Do you want an 8.8 in the back with a locker? Do you know how to weld at that level, and have you ever built a differential? No? Then you're going to be stuck either paying someone else to do it for you or trolling ads to find one, then hope you find (and get) exactly what you need. You'd better know how to make that assessment when you go to look at it, too, or you'll be buying something that you'll never be able to use. How much time do you have for this project? Do you have something else to drive while your Jeep is torn apart and waiting for you to get back to it?
I can tell you, even the experienced builders here can easily have over $5k in parts into their rigs, half of them being good used parts they pulled themselves from something else or did some horse trading for, before they ever begin to making them work on their Jeeps. Most of them have many, many hours into their builds - keep in mind they don't have to learn how to do it (or learn how to learn how) as they go, either.
Keep in mind too, anything that breaks on your personalized rig while you're in college will be a custom job to fix, and not every shop will want to take that on.
But it's up to you. Do your research. Consider it college prep - college is all about doing your own research. If you're not up to that basic first step, then you should seriously reconsider the whole college thing, too.
