Whats up guys
I swapped out my cracked exhaust manifold for a new steel manifold that I got off ebay. Everything went decent and I put it all back together with not many issues. Started right up but with a horrible idle, extremely loud and just no way near normal. Idling around 2200-2500 rpms
I also changed out the injectors for some remanufactured ones while I was in there. I am thinking now, I never undid the battery to reset everything. Ill try that tomorrow.
I ran the codes and got 12 33 17 42
I know 17 is my thermostat issue 12 is nothing. Not sure abt 42
I dont have a cat on this yj but I know that it can't possibly be this loud and shaky without one.
You are running a code 17 which is going to cause you to run rich. That along with new bigger injectors is a bad combo. 42 is the Auto shutdown relay. I bet you have an alarm or kill switch wired. You need to check for vacuum leaks by spraying around with some carb cleaner. The manifold might be a little louder but if it is that bad you probably have an exhaust leak.
Yeah i tore into everything today. I reset the codes by disconnecting the battery and the 17 and 42 code dropped. Im just getting the normal 12 and 55. 33 as well but thats another issue. Im assuming that the new injectors might have threw off the fuel ratio but I cant understand why no codes would should up. I am going to swap back in the old injectors, check the vacuum lines tomorrow and go from there.
Thanks for the response
Yeah My thermostat is shot, replacing that tomorrow as well. The engine ran exactly the same after i reset the codes. I took some pics of a vacuum line that I think I may have reinstalled in the wrong spot. I am going to load them on in a minute.
So the first picture shows the connection in question. Second picture is just soemthign I found not connected to anything. Hopefully its just a radio wire that was left unplugged since I currently have no radio hooked up.
Well you were right about the map, I connected it to the vac but still the same issue. I swapped back in the old injectors and nothing. If anything it raised the idle. Once I start the jeep the rpms are around 1800 and they slowly rise up until I get worried and turn off the motor. Somethings up and I cant get a handle on it. Not to mention it being extremely loud. I am going to put a cat on and replace the muffler but that isnt going to solve the rpm issue.
