Would $40 Canadian be reasonable for 1/4" mild steel per end ($40 for front, $40 for rear) which would give you the choice of straight or boomer shackle on your Jeep. I have heard it recomended that straight is better for front and boomer back, but I don't understand the physics behind that recommendation, yet.

Going with the tougher plate (AR200 or QT100) will be approx. tripple the material costs, and going with 5/16" or 3/8" plate will make the material cost approx. double that of 1/4" mild.

I'll try to do some flex-testing on her Jeep with the boomer-fronts just to see what happens.
Thats cool a 1" lift would be enought I think. I have 31 on stock springs now.

OK so waht does $40 each Canadian translate to in US? And that is for a set of 2 front and 2 back right?

To get the latest currency values, I normally visit http://www.xe.com/ucc - it is updated through the day, so it is quite current as far as values go.

Attached is my AutoCAD drawing that I use at work that is imported to our laser for cutting. You will see that I am working on another shackle-style that I wanna test out as well.

What the price works out to is $10 Cad per piece of steel. You will require 4 for the front and 4 for the back. I have 32 of the straight shackles and 8 of the boomer shackles made right now that I can ship out. The steel is "unfinished" - not painted, galvanized, or protected in anyway. I'll hit them with a wire-brush to clean any burrs off, and polish the bolt-holes so that a stock bolt will fit very tight (I made the holes undersized so that there will be no slop once mounted).

Let me know if this works for you.

^^ Do they provide any lift? I have a pair of Currie greaseable shackles already that I believe are 5/8" lift.

The standard is (XXX"/2) = added height. The 4" (as shown above) is the stock distance between bolt-holes, add in the added height of 2" and you have 6" between holes for a 1" overall extension.

There are differences in quality of springs and such which can influence the real amount of lift, but it should be close to that. There are no guarantee's when you modify a Jeep.

I figure that I might as well update the changes to the Jeep since this was last updated.

Cragar V5 rims

Decals

Slip Yoke Eliminator - SYE

Stinger

Looking good!
Need to clean up that windshield frame before you end up needing a new one!

In the top pic, are those TJ soft uppers? If so, how do you they fit (what is needed to make them work with the YJ lower door?)

Cheers!

Already have a new windshield frame ... just need time to do that fix. I also need to do some work inside the Jeep - pull the seats, seatbelts, roll-bar and then fix the floor where the seat-belts mount. Then bend-up some tubing for a new cage, weld, paint and then re-install everything.

Good eye. The uppers are TJ-uppers with the middle post cut-off, the front post fits just right (remove paint and then sand-down to fit into the YJ pin-holders) and then the back post has to be cut-off and welded back into place with someone holding the window tight against the hard-top. It also needs the paint removed to fit into the YJ-pin-holders that are in the door.

If you are welding inside the Jeep (like I did) have some replacement pin-holders on-hand .. they kinda melt away from the heat ..

Sounds like something I would do...

Good info on the uppers- I may go that route, although I already have two sets of hard doors...

Well my Jeep has had some more modifications since the last time I updated this. Thanks to my other half I now have a stinger on the front. See picture below:

I've had some other work done too. I had my front grill and fenders painted with Rocker Guard. We left the headlight frames white and I gotta see I like the contrast.

Yesterday we took turns erasing the black YJ lines off the hood. The plan is once we clean up the area where the lines were my Wildmist purple name in flames will be replacing the lines.

More pictures to come once the weather clears.

Kudos to NaeKid for spending his time helping me make my YJ slowly into the machine I want.
