Internal to external slave cylinder conversion?

Hey everyone,

I have been reading this board for a while and some of you seem to have a lot of mechanical know-how. I have a 92 YJ with the 4.0L and 5-speed AX-15. My internal slave cylinder has gone out again, and I really want to convert to an external slave-my transmission is in good shape, so I dont want to get a new one. I think I can get the bellhousing from a 94-99 and the external slave and I should be good to go, but Im not sure if this is a plausible solution. But I can't find any good write ups with my transmission. I found a couple for the AX-5 but Im not sure how accurate they are. First of all, I am wondering if this is possible. And second, if it is, I am not sure which parts I would need to get and which I could re-use out of my clutch mechanism(clutch fork, throwout bearing, etc.). And as long as I am in there, Im afraid I will be forced to upgrade to a Centerforce II-dang, I hate that. Any advice or information any of you have would be great. Thanks for your help.

Thanks so much. I feel much better about this project. That other message board was definitely helpful. I called No Excuses and talked to the guy and he answered all the questions that I threw at him. Good luck on your conversion. If you get it done anytime soon, let me know how it went.

Besides the bell housing, and the external slave components, you will also need the front bearing retainer from the donor transmission. Pretty straight forward conversion.
