This ignition is driving me nutz!!!!

I have a 94 yj 2.5 4cyl. 5 speed. When i try to start it, i have no spark... If i keep trying (5 or 6 times) it will start up and then run fine. If i shut it off and restart it right away it starts right up, if i let it set five or six minutes it has no spark again.

I tried replacing the ignition switch, thinking it might have a bad contact in it. It started right up, then i drove the 45 minutes home from work, shut it off and let it sit for 5 minutes it cranks but has no spark..

Any ideas? I am totally lost here......

Check all the connections to the coil an/or replace it.

I had a problem with starting that was intermittant like this. My check engine light would not light up but when I waited with the ignition on for several minutes it would eventually fire up.

I was told it was several different sensors and relays but they did not fix it.

I finally broke down and replaced the ECU. Problem solved.

I found the best deal at rockauto.com.

Good luck.

If the ECU gets no signal from the CPS you will get no spark or no fuel. That is the usual culprit with Jeeps in general. If your ecu is dead it is not starting ever period. I think you are having fuel pressure issues. If it starts hard then starts OK then if you shut it off and start it up right away it's OK, then after 30 minutes you are back to square one it sounds like you are losing fuel pressure at the fuel rail or you got a bad fuel pump.
