Idling issues

I have 1989 YJ 6-cylindar. At cold start the engine idles at 1500 or so, depending on where I set the idle, but once the engine warms up, the idle drops so low that the engine often stalls at stops. Anyone know what this could be? I just rebuilt the carburetor and the engine should be in pretty good shape.

Thanks in advance
JS

I hope you didnt waste your money rebuilding a Carter. Even after a rebuild it is still a pain in the butt. Dump it and buy a new one. That will solve your issue.

I have a 1987 YJ with the I6 and the Carter carb. My Jeep does exactly what yours is doing. I finally gave up on the carb. My mechanic said mine is just too old and wore out. He got it to somewhat idle again but said the problem will return.

I ordered the Mopar MPI kit this week and it should arrive today.

Good luck! But the advice they guy have is good. Either buy a new carb or get one of the two injection kits (Mopar or Howell)
