I6 HO and AW4 from XJ to YJ

I am picking up a wrecked 92 xj later this week. the engine and transmission are fine and I was wondering if I can put the 4.0 HO and AW4 in my 95 YJ that currently has I4 auto.

I am sure it "can" be done, but is it something feasible or should I look at something else.

I've never done a swap to a different type of engine and transmission, but I have done about everything else.

Thank you

Lol, I am guessing this thread was a bad idea. I do have an extra 350 setting around here also, but I have not seen any swaps with a 350 and th350 transmission. I really need the auto transmission because of a tore up knee. I just figured since i would have the donor vehicle, why not. I really like the 4.0 in our ZJ.

No, I'm interested because my son has an 88 XJ with a 4.0 and AW4 that's on its last legs and I'm wondering what I can cannibalize when it gives up.

You'd need to change motor mounts, gauges, and some other things that I know of.

I think this has been done before actually.

Search FAQ ! A lot of us have done the swap. Many write ups available. Do a search for different ideas on which way to go with it. There are some things you have to customize such as motor mount positioning and wiring. I would suggest taking the harness,ECM,and TCU from the donor also!

Check your local emissions laws first. In some states you can't legally put an older motor into a newer vehicle.
