I need hard top interior pics....
Morning all,
I am in need of some pictures of the inside of the rear window hatch and how the defroster connects to the window. I am fairly certain I am missing the parts to connect to the glass but I need to see a stock setup to be shure what is missing. I have the wires to the struts and the connection from the strut to the window but nothing between the strut and the window. Thanx for any help. Rusty ![]() ![]()

I don't have a rear defroster but shouldn't that wire just be attached to that connection with a wire connector to match?

Yes, that is what is missing there, I ment to take that pic out. I need whatever used to be glued to the window. You can see by following the edge of the defroster element that there was something there at one point. Here is the edited pic: ![]()

At the top of both shocks there's the spade connector type thing, at the bottom of both shocks is a wire coming off that attaches to the window. Along the edges of the window (where your arrows are) runs what looks sort of like a braided ground strap or maybe solder wicking, anyhow that is attached to the wire and then soldered onto the glass at those blank spots.
Not the best pic but hopefully it'll help. ![]() I don't know how you would go about getting the strip on the glass and getting it re-attached. Maybe a glass shop??

Rusty, Grab your multimeter and check for continuity on the 2 spades. Maybe your overlooking something? That entire grid should be a closed circuit. Sorry I can't offer more, I no longer have a hardtop.

Rusty,
It is a braided wire that is attached to the window side of the pneumatic cylinder. Here are a couple of pics. Sorry for the quality. It was dark. I can take some more tomorrow evening if you think it will help. Good luck. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd248/mcgann454/DSC02166.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd248/mcgann454/DSC02161.jpg |

So it looks like mine were yanked off at some point. I have power when I flip the switch and test between the two wires coming out of the top. So now, I just need to figure out the braided wire thing.
Calling a few glass shops today.

I don't know how legit this is, but I was curious myself, so I found this. (linked below) And I don't know how much of it would actually help you, but whomever else stumbles across this thread might find it interesting. http://defrosterkit.com/

All you need to do is get a braided cable from an electrical supply house and solder it into place at each location that looks likes its been torn off.
Solder a wire from the braid to the tab at the lift piston witha quick disconnect at the piston end and you're set.
