Took her to a transmission shop today, and they think I have chipped a few teeth off of my 5th gear, possibly my 1st gear as well, and my clutch needs to be replaced. estimated around $1500. I don't even have $500 right now, SO it looks like I'll be checking around junkyards for an AX-15 to swap in. Its either that or try to rebuild the one I have now. Swapping sounds simpler. I just need to make sure the one I get isnt messed up as well.

If you do get one from a donor vehicle to swap in, look for the large diameter input snout (part that goes into the pilot bearing), yours is most likely 0.750." If you get one that is the internal slave version, you can swap your front input bearing retainer from yours and put it on the "new" trans. Replace the input seal though first, $7 well spent. You can use an AX15 from an XJ/Cherokee as well, but would need to re drill your rear case to clock the transfer case to the correct angle, or swap tail sections from your old trans, and swap in your shifter as well.
This is prolly the cheapest route to go if you aren't anticipating doing your own rebuild.
