I don't know what it could be. I've touched stuff down below and tried moving stuff around. Don't get any real movement. I did replace all drum brake related stuff cause it was SUPER rusty. 1st drive and it's making the same sound again.
It sounds the loudest from the right rear wheel well. Thoughts?
I don't think it's in the rear drums, the sound is too fast. The drums aren't turning as fast as the sound.
The noise is pretty fast for the speed the rear tires would be turning.
Sound locations are deceiving too.
Maybe securely place on sturdy jackstands and get underneath and slowly turn driveshaft and feel for resistance/noise.
If it was the drums hanging up, you would feel it with the wheels removed. Plus you said they are new. If it was the drums, they would probably be warped to make the noise. Not likely on new drums.
Could be u-joints or something in the rear axle.
Have you done any work on the rear yoke recently? Replace a seal?
That is a perfect pic to illustrate the "I have a driveline noise but my U-joints are good because I have no slop" issue.
Its been my protocol to remove the shaft and inspect it on the bench.
