So I found a guy with a Dana 44 thats a 3.73 from a 03 TJ but he doesnt know if it has a limited slip or not, do you know any way to test it out of a jeep? According to the TJ spec sticky it has to be from a Sport if its a stock 44 with 3.73. He said the dif tag numbers say 52104454ad 3 73 606648. Thanks for the help.

Spin a wheel/drum/disc. If both wheels turn in the same direction its got a functioning limited slip, or a locker (although if a limited slip, it may not function correctly under load if its worn).

If they turn in opposite directions, its open or has a worn limited slip.

There should be a Bill of Material number (BOM) stamped on the passanger side axle tube. Normally on the upper 1/2 of the axle tube. Take that number and go to this web site, plug the BOM number into it. All data about that axles build will be displayed.

Dana Corp BOM web site site : >>>>> http://www2.dana.com/expertforms/deabill.aspx

or take the cover off and look at it.

Hopes this helps out

Just pop the cover it's quick and you if it's limited slip or a locker, and you can inspect it.
