how to replace lower steering shaft & bearing???

I have now replaced every major sterring component and I am down to the steering shaft/column bearing as being my problem.... I have used the search (in this forum, other forums, & google) and still cant come up with a descent set of instructions, hell even my Chilton's book makes no mention of it...

I plan on replacing the following:
Lower steering shaft
Plastic Steering column bearing retainer lower
Steering column bearing lower

does anyone have any pointers, tips, or even brief instructions how to do this (and possible problems i might encounter?

can this job be done in a couple of hours with basic hand tools?

thanks in advance!
